Development

Feedback from first year students and professors has been quite helpful in molding our plans for the future. Several interesting (tentative) changes are being planned and considered. We can list these as follows:

(1) Students have shown an interest in expanding the number of classes dealing with international relations. They have expressed that in these turbulent and uncertain times, it is important to better understand the constraints governments are operating under and how foreign relations and diplomacy can reduce tensions and solve problems.

(2) Students have expressed a preference for reducing the number of economics courses since many of these tend to cover the same material.

(3) Students have asked that a methodology course be introduced that can help them better understand how to do research and that can aid them in choosing a thesis topic and in writing effectively on this topic.

(4) There is always a pressing need to expand the opportunities for scholarships and work experiences. The program director and administrative staff are hard at work to try and get more money for these important areas of development.

(5) There is a constant need to invite outside speakers for lectures and speeches, especially to help students stay abreast of the current developments in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region.
